A basic catering cart will have a steamer and with that one feature one can cook just about anything from pasta, soups, bbq, seafood, sausages, burgers and much more.
Comparing costs you can see just how open food trucks are the better choice for the majority of new owners. The average open food truck is about $4000 compared to over $100,000 with a standard food truck. A basic hot dog cart (open food truck) with commercial steam tables start at about $1900.
These open food trucks (catering carts, hot dog carts) can be moved around much easier, require less maintenance and as previously shown, are affordable to about anyone.
There are pros and cons to both, but all in all, for anyone wanting to break into the business, there simply isn’t a more affordable way.
